In trying to use visual aids to teach children about animals, fruits, vegetables, alphabets and other common things taught both in school and at home, then coloring pages is undoubtedly the best tool to use to achieving the maximum result. First, it serves as an attraction catcher for the child and a means of having so much fun while learning. To some, it is quite a simple and easy task to get free coloring pages and pictures but then the obvious results it produces are so numerous to mention.
Coloring pages have been around for many years, but with the ever-evolving technology that we are all so in awe of, it is the high-tech games and toys that generally catch the attention of parents, while the advantages that coloring pages have to offer very young or even elementary age children, are ignored.
Studies and researches have shown that initial five years of a child are the most critical ones from the point of view of learning. Their capacity to learn new things is at its highest ebb during this period. Children of this age group can be compared to a piece of sponge that is ready to absorb any liquid that it comes across. These are the building years for children and we need to use this period for giving them rock solid foundation that can help them in building their mansion of life upon it in a way that it becomes an example for everyone else to follow.
There is no doubt that visual learning plays a key role when it comes to childrens learning and development. In fact, visual teachings are commonly regarded as one of the most important factors that add a lot to a childs early growth and development. For the records, children are easily influenced by what they see, touch, feel and participate more than just what they hear. Visuals help them retain and remember lessons taught. It also takes care of verbal miscommunication and also creates and retains their interest in a particular lesson. It is often said that humans, especially kids tend to remember 10% of what they hear, 50% of what they see, and 80% of what they see and do. This underlines the importance of visual aids in learning and development of kids.
